Artist Statement
Abigail explores the connection of the human form and self expression. She uses metal as her medium of choice in order to create wearable art that defines boundaries on or around the body as a means of self-preservation.
Her designs consist of organic structures juxtaposed with clean lines that mold to the body. Abigail is inspired by streetwear, horror, renaissance iconography, and contemporary fashion. Vibrant colors are utilized to demand attention to her work, as well as fitting into a utility and construction-site aesthetic. She uses film and photography as a way to bring the audience to an imagined place where her wearable art comes to life.
Abigail is currently experimenting with mixed media such as paracord, acrylic, cement, and 3D printed plastics. She is using computer aided design as a means to supplement geometries that cannot be made via traditional metalsmithing. Her work aims to bridge the gap between textile fashion and accessory adornments.
